Keeping familiar clothes while growing out gray
#1
Our community theater is preparing a small production, and I am helping choose a wig for one of the characters. Most of the outfit is settled: a dark outer layer, a pale scarf, and very little room for other colorful accessories. I would like to compare a warm brown, a cooler brown, and a muted red before spending any of our limited budget. My search for a clearer vocabulary for warm and cool shades led me to a discussion reference about color analysis as a starting point for further reading. It seems like background for the conversation; our character design may call for a different effect from an ordinary personal look. A sample looks different in the rehearsal room than near the stage, and I want the final choice to account for that. Should we begin with a daylight comparison and then repeat it on stage, or do the costume and stage lights take priority? Please share a workable way to compare these options together, so the decision does not depend entirely on one volunteer’s first impression.
